Children who like nature, LOVE Nature Day Camp!
Nature day camp is an opportunity to make lasting memories and amazing discoveries outdoors. Join us for fun-filled weeks of exploring and discovering the wonders of nature though games, role plays, shared stories, crafts, live animal encounters, hands on activities, and educational hikes through forests and streams.
Ages: Children, pre-K to 6th grade. Youth entering 7th-12th grades assist the Environmental Education Specialist as Counselors-In-Training (CITs).
Counselor-In-Training Program: 7th-12th graders
CIT’s gain experience working with children in a supervised setting, learn age-appropriate activities, how to guide or lead group activities, and emergency procedures. A two-week commitment is required. CITs may be able to assist for additional weeks, if space is available in the program.
Group Sizes and Grouping:
Groups are separated by age: Pre-k to 2nd grade and 2nd to 6th grade.
Group size is limited to 14 per age group.
Camp Hours/ Schedule:
2nd-6th grade: 9 am-3 PM7th-12th grade (CIT’s)- 8:30 am- 3:30 pm

Each day children bring a snack and a refillable bottle of water, children attending full-day sessions also bring a lunch. Re-useable containers are strongly encouraged. Disposable items, including wrappers and plastic spoons, return home with the child.

Camp Lackawanna—4.5 miles from Rte. 6, west of Tunkhannock
The Endless Mountains Nature Center leases a lodge and use of the grounds at Camp Lackawanna at 1309 Vosburg Road, Tunkhannock. (Note: GPS does not always bring to you us.) Eleven miles of trails wind along the Susquehanna River and through the forest and fields. Camp Lackawanna’s residential camp programs share the grounds.
Keystone College—along Rte. 6 & 11 in Factoryville
Keystone has acres of forest along the South Branch of the Tunkhannock Creek in Factoryville. The location has wooded trails, lawns, and access to the creek. Keystone College is located 8 miles north of Clarks Summit and 10 miles east of Tunkhannock. For a description and directions click here
Little Rocky Glen—3/10 mile off Rte. 6 on Lithia Valley Road, Factoryville
Countryside Conservancy’s “gorge-ous” preserve along the South Branch of the Tunkhannock Creek has wooded trails, open fields, a pavilion, and access to the creek. LRG is 10 miles north of Clarks Summit and seven miles east of Tunkhannock. For a description and directions click here
Scholarships and Camperships
Need-based camperships are available from the Nature Center.

Greater Wyoming Valley Audubon Society Scholarships
Nature Day Camp scholarships are available for several children. Receive a $50 scholarship to encourage the love of nature. Thank you to these bird lovers for their support. For information about their bird watches and program visit http://grwyovalas.org/
Please download the scholarship application and follow the directions. Deadline: May 31. Winners will be notified by June 8. Scholarship winners will be reimbursed for camp tuition fee after registration is verified by the EMNC staff.
Cancellations and Refunds
The Nature Center will honor requests for refunds 14 days or more before the scheduled program. Requests for refunds made less than 14 days prior will be issued only if the open slot is filled. A $25 administrative fee will be withheld for each child withdrawn. There is no fee for switching to another available camp of the same price. If prices differ, you will need to pay the difference or we will refund the difference.
The Nature Center retains the right to change or cancel any programs as necessary. The EMNC staff may remove any child from Nature Day Camp for inappropriate behavior, in which case no refund will be issued.
Camp Lackawanna offers residential camp for 3rd – 12th grade students. Weeks have different themes including Sports, Music * Art * Drama, and community service. All weeks include religious education.
